Colleen Law-Tefft has been involved in theatre her whole life, starting with community theatre shows with her dad when she was in 5th grade and continued her involvement throughout high school, college and beyond. Colleen attended SUNY Potsdam and transferred to SUNY Oneonta where she graduated with a BS in Home Economics: Clothing and Textiles. She also has an AAS in Buying and Merchandising from the Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC. She has participated and served on the board of the Sherburne Music-Theater Society, a local community theatre since 1989. Colleen has been a member of TANYS (Theatre Association of New York State) since 1999, serving on the board and is currently the Past President. She has been the drama club director at the Sherburne-Earlville HS since 1998, producing 2 – 3 shows per school year. In 2000 Colleen became a member of NYSTEA and began attending the Annual Student Conference with her high school students. In 2010 she was asked to join the Student Conference committee as the Registrar, training with Kathleen Wens. Over the last 10 + years she has had the pleasure of working with and getting to know the committee members and many other members of NYSTEA. “From my first year attending student conference, I have been impressed with the dedication and care given to the planning and organization of the conference. Since working on the committee, I do not believe that I have ever worked with a more dynamic and dedicated team of caring individuals. They truly put the students first, working hard to continuously improve the experience and find ways to grow and adapt to the changing world around us. It never feels like work when we are together and there is always plenty of laughter. I am incredibly proud to be part of such a fantastic organization.” When Colleen is not directing at the high school or attending a state theater meeting, you can find her at the Sherburne Public Library where she has been the manager since 2016.
